Secretary-General for Economic and G20 Affairs of the Office of the President of Spain

Born in Madrid in 1972, he holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Madrid (1995), a Master’s degree in Latin American Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid (1996) and a Master’s degree in Economic Policy from Columbia University (2000). He has worked for several international organisations, such as the World Bank (2000-2007), or the African Development Bank, and has also held various positions in Spanish agencies and public bodies (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, FIIAPP, AECID, Expansión Exterior or ICEX). He has lived in Spain, Argentina, USA, Mexico and Kenya. From July 2014 to October 2016 he was Secretary of Economy of the PSOE. Since June 2018 he has served as Director of Economic Affairs and G20 of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government and since January 2020 he is the G20 Sherpa of the Government of Spain. Since December 2020 he has been Secretary General for Economic and G20 Affairs of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government.
