Former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain 

José Manuel García-Margallo y Marfil is a Spanish politician and member of the Popular Party. During his political career, he has been Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Government of Spain from 2011 to 2016, General Director of Community Development in the Ministry of Culture from 1977 to 1979, a deputy in the Congress of Deputies in various legislatures, being secretary-general of the Centrist Parliamentary Group and president of the Petitions Committee (1979-1982) and Mixed National Security Committee (2016 and 2019). He is also a member of the European Parliament in various legislatures (1994-2011; 2019-present), where he served as Vice-President of the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs. He has been awarded the Grand Cross of Civil Merit (1982) and the Order of Constitutional Merit (1983).
