President of BNP Paribas Spain

Cecilia Boned is the President of the BNP Paribas Group in Spain since October 2017 and belongs to the group of the top 100 executives of the bank at the international level. She holds a degree in Applied Economics and a postgraduate degree in international economics and finance from the University of Paris IX Dauphine. She began her career as a lecturer at this University and as a member of its Monetary Economics Laboratory.

She has had a long career in the BNP Paribas Group, holding several senior positions. She joined the Banque Nationale de Paris in France in 1988 as Head of Sovereign Debt Restructuring and in 1991 she started working in the General Inspection area. Four years later she was appointed Head of Emerging Markets Development and subsequently held other senior positions in Investment Banking and Corporate Development in Paris.

In 2002 she moved to Spain as Managing Director of the Cortal Consors Group’s online broker. In 2006, she returned to Paris to take over the International Insurance Management of Arval and subsequently returned to Spain to join the leasing subsidiary Arval as Deputy General Manager. In 2011, she was appointed CEO of Arval for Spain and, in 2015, she joined the insurance subsidiary Cardif as CEO for the Iberian Peninsula.

Among other additional occupations, she is currently a member of the Board and Executive Committee of the Spanish Banking Association, as well as President of its Group IV (International Banking). She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Franco-Spanish Chamber of Commerce and Industry (La Chambre), of the Board of Directors of the Spanish-French Friendship Association Dialogo and the Advisory Board of the Association Mujeres Avenir.

She has been elected “Top 100 Women Leaders in Spain” in 2013, 2015 and 2018 and received in 2013 the “Best CEO in the Automotive Industry” award in Spain.
