Bernardo Velázquez
Since he joined the Acerinox Marketing Department in 1990, Bernardo Velázquez has been assuming positions of increasing responsibility within the company, accumulating a great deal of experience in the international stainless steel business.
After his stay in Mexico and Australia, on his return to Spain he held the positions of Assistant to the General Manager, Systems Manager and Strategy Manager. In 2007 he was appointed General Manager, a position he held until his appointment as CEO in July 2010.
During his career within Acerinox, he has been part of the Board of Directors of Columbus Stainless (Pty) Ltd and Bahru Stainless SDN. BHD. where he was Chairman. He has also been Chairman of Acerinox Europa, S.A.U., Inoxcenter, S.L.U., World Stainless (International Stainless Steel Association) and the Stainless Steel Group of Eurofer and member of the Executive Board of World Steel (International Steel Manufacturers Association).
He is currently Chairman of North American Stainless and VDM Metals. In addition, he combines these positions with those of President of UNESID (National Union of Steel Companies), Vice-President of World Stainless (former ISSF) and Director of Eurofer (Association of European Steel Manufacturers).
He is also a Trustee of the A LA PAR Foundation and Trustee of the SERES Foundation.
