University.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">He was Secretary of State for Economy at the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance from May 14, 2009, to December 23, 2011.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Until the date of his appointment as secretary of state, he was professor of finance and director of research at the IESE Business School of the University of Navarra, a position he left temporarily. He has been a consultant to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, the European\u00a0Commission\u00a0and the Research Service of the Bank of Spain.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">He has also taught at Harvard University, Columbia University, the Stern School of Business, and the\u00a0Complutense\u00a0University of Madrid. He has been a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and Research Fellow at the\u00a0Center\u00a0for Economic Policy Research.
