Economics and Business Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid and belongs to the Senior Corps of State Auditors and Inspectors; she is also a member (on leave of absence) of the Senior Corps of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Inspectores de Hacienda.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Her career in public administration began at the <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Intervenci\u00f3n General de la Administraci\u00f3n del Estado (IGAE)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, where between 1993 and 2000 she was Head of Area in the Sub-Directorate General for Analysis and Economic Accounts of the public sector; between 2000 and 2005 as an advisory member; and from November 2005 to March 2014 she was Deputy Director General of Budget Analysis and Institutional Organisation of the Autonomous Public Sector, supervising budgetary stability and regional financing.\u00a0 <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In 2014, she joined AIReF as Director of the Budget Analysis Division, assuming a key role in the evaluation and control of public spending.\u00a0 <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Since January 2020, she has served as President of AIReF, an appointment confirmed by Royal Decree 439\/2020 after unanimous approval by Parliament.\u00a0 <\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Under her leadership, AIReF acts as an independent body that ensures the sustainability of public finances, budgetary stability and transparency in the public sector in Spain.\u00a0 <\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Recognised for her technical expertise and professional integrity, Cristina Herrera has received distinctions such as\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Gran Cruz al M\u00e9rito en el Servicio de la Econom\u00eda<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and various awards for her contribution to economic assessment, transparency and fiscal responsibility in Spain.<\/span><span
