Teresa Ribera, the Minister of Ecological Transition, has inaugurated the 9th Edition of Spain Investors Day (SID), the forum in which Spanish companies listed on the Stock Exchange meet with large investors and which opens the economic year. With the presence of more than 150 international investors and 43 Spanish listed companies, the minister highlighted the business opportunities that exist in Spain.

“Spain has a lot to gain from the ecological transition,” he said. For this, “the government must develop a regulatory framework that facilitates it,” he added. The head of the Ministry has also stressed that “with the reduction of greenhouse gases will generate new jobs. On the other hand, Ribera explained that “we are convinced of the benefits of an ecological transition together with companies, citizens and, of course, investors”, pointing out that “green” opportunities, as she has called them, are a vector of growth for employment.

On his behalf, the Secretary of State for Trade and President of ICEX, Xiana Margarida Méndez, has stressed that Spain is growing more than the rest of the Eurozone countries. She also pointed out that the Spanish economy is “resilient, open and more competitive than a few years ago”. She also commented that Spanish companies have consolidated themselves as key entities at their sectors, being essential for economic growth.

Regarding GDP, he noted that, based on data for the third quarter of 2018, it had a growth rate between 2,5 and 2,6 %. He has also emphasized the importance of free trade for Spain in the international scope, pointing out that exports have grown by 4%, highlighting the growth presence of exports to countries outside the European Union, which represents a growth in the total of 20%.

Benito Berceruelo, president of the SID has pointed out that in the ninth edition of the SID “we have more companies than ever, explaining to international investors their fundamental economic data”, which he considers to be the greatest success of this forum.

The main objective of Spain Investors Day is to put Spanish listed companies in contact with foreign investors so they can get to know first-hand the results of last year and plans for the future.  This forum, promoted and organised by Estudio de Comunicación, once again has BNP PARIBAS and EXANE BNP PARIBAS as strategic partners.
