Minister of Defense

She holds a Law degree from the Central University of Barcelona.

She entered the judicial career in the 27th class of judges and prosecutors, ranking first in her class.

She has served as a Judge and Magistrate in Balaguer, Sant Feliu de Llobregat and Bilbao, and joined the Barcelona Provincial Court in 1981, becoming the first woman in Spain to sit on a collegiate judicial body.

She served as President of the Barcelona Provincial Court (1991–1993).

She was Undersecretary at the Ministry of Justice (1993–1994).

She served as Secretary of State for the Interior at the Ministry of Justice and the Interior (1994–1996).

She was a Magistrate of the Administrative Litigation Chamber of the National High Court (1996–2004).

In 2004, she was appointed Magistrate of the Administrative Chamber of the Supreme Court.

She was a member of the General Council of the Judiciary (2008–2013).

She served as a Member of Parliament for Madrid (2016–2018).

She was President of the Justice Committee of the Congress of Deputies (2016–2017).

She served as Spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group in the Congress of Deputies (2017–2018).

She served as a Member of Parliament for Ávila (2019 – February 2020).

She served as a Member of Parliament for Madrid (August 2023 – December 2023).

She has been Minister of Defence (2018 – present).
