Fernando Ruiz Ruiz currently chairs the SERES Foundation and served as Chairman of Deloitte Spain from June 2009 to June 2022.

He began his professional career at Arthur Andersen in 1980. In 1992 he was appointed partner, and four years later he began leading the banking, insurance and financial institutions practice and joined the Executive Committee, a responsibility he combined with directing the firm’s commercial strategy in Spain.

Arthur Andersen Spain and Deloitte merged in 2002. Fernando continued in his roles within the new organization. In 2005 he was appointed head of the entire financial institutions practice across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 2009 he was elected Chairman of the firm in Spain, and in 2011 he was appointed to the Global Executive Committee, a position he held until June 2022.

Deloitte is present in 150 countries and has a professional team of more than 400,000 people, of whom more than 10,500 work in Spain.

His professional career has been closely linked to the financial sector. For 12 years he led specialized services advising financial institutions.

His deep knowledge of the financial sector and extensive experience providing services to the world’s leading financial institutions have qualified him to deliver training to public bodies and private-sector professionals. Among the courses he has delivered are those for the Corps of Inspectors of the Bank of Spain, and he has taught, among other subjects, Accounting, IAS, Stock Markets, Derivatives and Internal Auditing.

He is currently, since June 2021, Chairman of the SERES Foundation, an organization that brings together more than 150 companies and whose aim is to transform businesses towards a responsible and sustainable business model, placing emphasis on its most demanding dimension: the social dimension.

He is a member of the Board of AED (the Spanish Association of Executives) and of the Advisory Boards of Deusto Business School, ESADE and Loyola University Andalusia. He is a member of the University Advisory Council of Universidad Europea, the Investment Advisory Board of Arta Capital, and the Official Register of Statutory Auditors. In addition, he is Chairman of the Board of Patrons of the Teatro Real and of the Board of Trustees of the Colegio Libre de Eméritos.
