CEO of CaixaBank 

Gortázar Rotaeche holds a degree in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE) and an MBA with distinction from INSEAD. He joined Criteria in 2009 as CEO, a position he held until 2011. At Criteria, he served on the boards of Abertis, Grupo financiero Inbursa, Vidacaixa, SegurCaixa Adeslas, Port Aventura and Saba. In 2011, following the reorganisation of the la Caixa-CaixaBank group, he became Chief Financial Officer of CaixaBank, with responsibility for financial and accounting management, the equity portfolio and mergers and acquisitions. In 2014, he was appointed CEO of CaixaBank and is also a member of the board of BPI. Prior to joining Criteria/CaixaBank, Gortázar headed the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley’s European financial institutions, after an extensive career in advising on and executing a large number of M&A and capital markets transactions in the European financial sector.
